We have established a ‘’Climate Change Processes Management Office’’ on April 22 by making a plan to follow the future risks of our country and the world related to climate change through scientific-based studies, to define its corporate responsibilities better, and to take action.
At the same time, the management office, which will also follow the application areas of the IMM’s climate change programs under the energy title, will carry out its activities with its full-time engineer team supported by expert academic advisors. At Istanbul Energy, we understand the importance and urgency of the problems that arise due to climate change, and we develop projects aiming at these problems with our newly established Climate Change Processes Management Office.
The ‘’Earth Day’’, which emerged with the idea of drawing attention to the environmental threats faced by natural life and beauties, is celebrated on April 22 every year. More than 20 million people participated in the ‘’Earth Day’’ celebrations, the first of which was held on April 22, 1970, many conferences and symposiums were held, attention was drawn to environmental problems, and the first ‘Clean Air Law’ and ‘Clean Water Laws’ of the USA were prepared. More than 1 billion people are foreseen to participate in activities worldwide again this year to draw attention to the urgency of the climate crisis and environmental degradation and the need for urgent action.
Since 1970, significant events such as the Paris Agreement were realized on Earth Day. This year’s theme was announced as ‘’Restore our Earth’’ to draw attention to the damage we have made.
Regarding Earth Day, the ‘’Leaders’ Summit on Climate” and the ‘’Exponential Climate Action Summit’’ on “Financing Zero Emissions” which will be organized on April 22, 2021, and hosted by the United States, are among major events.
