Istanbul Energy, the subsidiary company of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality operating in the field of energy, continues its works on the SECAP – Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan prepared for local governments, without slowing down. Having already prepared SECAP works for many municipalities, Istanbul Energy lastly closed a deal with Çorlu Municipality.
The agreement for the creation of the Çorlu Municipality – Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan was signed by Yüksel Yalçın, Istanbul Energy General Manager, and Ahmet Sarıkurt, Mayor of Çorlu, on Monday, April 11. Istanbul Energy will provide consultancy services to determine the ways for reducing carbon emissions of the district for the commitments of Çorlu Municipality which is a signatory party to the Covenant of Mayors.

Yüksel Yalçın, General Manager of Istanbul Enerji A.Ş., said; “The Sustainable Climate Energy Action Plan (SECAP) is one of the areas of responsibility of local governments. In this regard, we provide SECAP consultancy to local governments with our teams of expert engineers and academic advisors. Within the scope of our cooperation with Çorlu Municipality, a strategic plan will be prepared specifically for the Çorlu district and clean energy practices will be conducted to reduce carbon emissions. We believe that these steps taken to build a sustainable life will set an example for other local governments. As Istanbul Energy, we are ready to fulfill our responsibilities in line with the net-zero carbon goal.”.
Ahmet Sarıkurt, Mayor of Çorlu, said; “As Çorlu Municipality, we have been involved in the scope of the European Green Deal by signing the Covenant of Mayors. We are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40% across the city by 2030. We signed a cooperation agreement with Istanbul Enerji A.Ş. within the framework of the practices of the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan. I wish this cooperation we will make with Istanbul Enerji A.Ş. to reduce carbon emissions to be beneficial for our city.”.
