KÜÇÜKÇEKMECE BELEDİYESİ İLE SECAP PROGRAMINDA İŞ BİRLİĞİ İMZALADIK

We collaborated for the preparation of SECAP – Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan of Küçükçekmece Municipality.

The introduction meeting of the “Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan” (SECAP), prepared in cooperation with Istanbul Enerji A.Ş. and Küçükçekmece Municipality Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate, was held at Cennet Culture and Art Center. With the protocol signed between Kemal Çebi and Yüksel Yalçın at the ceremony, the green transformation process of Küçükçekmece Municipality within the scope of the energy and environment program has officially started.

The program was attended by our General Manager Yüksel Yalçın, Mayor Kemal Çebi, District Director of National Education Murat Gözüdok, Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Architecture Urban Regional Planning Dr. Lecturer Erhan Kurtarır, Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Representatives, Academicians, Municipality Unit Managers, NGOs, mukhtars and district protocol.

Küçükçekmece Mayor Kemal Çebi, who attended the meeting, underlined that they will use all means to realize the target of ’40 percent carbon neutrality by 2030 and 40 percent carbon neutrality by 2050′ in the city.

Mayor Kemal Çebi: If we take the issue seriously, it is possible to achieve the goal

Stating that the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan is a priority among the works of Küçükçekmece Municipality and that they will use all means to achieve the goal, Küçükçekmece Mayor Kemal Çebi said, “In a very short period of time, we have experienced a Covid-19 case whose effects are still continuing. We have experienced and continue to experience. The other is the climate crisis, which is bigger than that. Simultaneously during the pandemic process, we witnessed how a city heals itself when a brake is put on this harshness with the closure of people who use nature in a harsh way. With Covid -19, we realized that with the change in our consumption and living habits, a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions was observed. When the crisis started to affect our lives, we raised our heads. The climate crisis is now in our lives as a subject. Is it possible to do something that concerns the whole world, the whole environment and people’s lives? It is indeed possible to go down to 40 percent emissions in 2030 and to zero emissions in 2050. The more seriously we take it, the more possible it is. I am a person who believes that we should pay much more attention to the guidance of university scientists. In order to convince and persuade the citizens and the society together with the citizens, and to develop public awareness, the explanation can start from schools.”

Yüksel Yalçın: By 2050, all buildings should switch to renewable energy

Yüksel Yalçın, our General Manager, stated that this is a stakeholder study and said, “We aim for a 40 percent reduction in 2030 and zero carbon in 2050 in Küçükçekmece. Muhtars, non-governmental organizations, energy supply companies, universities, schools are the stakeholders of this plan. We will transform 50 percent of the buildings in Küçükçekmece region by 2030. Between 2030 and 2050, we will do the remaining 50 percent and all roofs will be recyclable. The roofs of two-storey villas should have solar energy and the common areas of high-rise buildings and the lighting of elevators should be made of solar energy.”
