Solar Power Plant Calculation
As İstanbul Enerji, we continue to expand our SECAP (Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan) works in local governments. Finally, based on our cooperation with Edirne Municipality, we signed a contract to prepare SECAP works.
The SECAP promotion program arranged at Atatürk Cultural Center in Edirne Municipality was held with the participation of many institutions and organizations such as academics, chambers of commerce, chambers of commerce and industry, and neighborhood headmen. In this program, Recep Gürkan, Edirne Mayor, and General Manager Yüksel Yalçın signed a cooperation protocol within the scope of the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan. With this cooperation, the green transformation process has officially started within the scope of the energy and environment program of Edirne Municipality.
One Degree of Temperature Increase Changes the World
In his speech, our General Manager Yüksel Yalçın provided information about the works to be done with the action plan and stated that they have developed works within the scope of joint activities planned on energy and climate issues together with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Edirne Mayor Recep Gürkan, and local governments in the region.
Touching on the SECAP responsibility of local governments, Yalçın said:
“One of the scopes of these works is the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan. After the 2000s, we all realized what is a one-degree increase in the temperature, how a one-degree increase changed the world, and how important a 1-degree increase is.”
Edirne Municipality Climate Change and Zero Waste Manager Savaş Çerkez stated that one of the most important problems in the world is climate change and added, “Due to the danger that climate change may cause, every country attempts to take urgent measures and precautions on a national and local scale”.
Our Goal is Carbon Neutrality
Edirne Mayor Gürkan stated that the action plan is more important than asphalt and infrastructure and noted that this process, initiated with İstanbul Enerji, is very important.
Gürkan said, “Our goal is clear. Our goal is carbon neutrality… We plan to reach this goal in 2050. I hope we reach it in 2040 or even in 2035. But if we cannot reach carbon neutrality, our children and grandchildren will not be able to live in a world as we do. That’s what’s clear”.
Gürkan thanked the energy management technical teams of İstanbul Enerji for their support and added, “Information is very important. The one who has knowledge also owns the future. That is why it is very valuable for us that İstanbul Energy partners with us with its 60 years of experience.”
Clean energy works will be carried out in line with the 2050 carbon neutrality goal in cooperation with İstanbul Enerji and Edirne Municipality.
