Istanbul Energy Increased The Installed Capacity Of “Silivri – Seymen Landfill Gas Power Plant” From 25 MW To 37 MW

With 37 MW, it is the ‘’Landfill Gas Power Plant with the Highest Installed Capacity in a Single Center in Turkey’’.

Silivri Seymen Landfill Gas Power Plant, which was opened by Istanbul Enerji A.S. in September 2020 with an installed capacity of 17 MW, reached an installed capacity of 25 MW with 18 gas engines as of December 26, 2020. It increased this installed capacity from 25 MW to 37 MW with 26 gas engines in October 2021. Silivri Seymen Power Generation Plant of Istanbul Energy is the landfill gas power plant with the highest installed capacity in a single center in Turkey with 37 MW. With an installed capacity of 37 MW, it will provide an environmental benefit equivalent to the electricity need of approximately 190 thousand dwellings (760 thousand people), prevention of methane gas emission corresponding to 1.45 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) in terms of greenhouse effect equivalent to a carbon reduction made by 37 thousand trees and disposal of carbon emission arising from 940 thousand vehicles. According to the generation projection made at the feasibility phase of the facility, it is planned to reach an installed capacity of 90 MW between 2038 and 2041. When it reaches an installed capacity of 90 MW, the facility will be the world’s largest BEP project installed in a single area.

Istanbul Energy continues to work as a strong and prestigious brand in the energy sector with the sensitivity of ‘’a cleaner, greener, and livable Istanbul’’ by developing new projects for power generation systems equipped with high-tech equipment with its environment and nature-friendly power generation policy.
