A solar-powered LED lighting system, independent from the electricity grid, has been installed at 1,000 bus stops across Istanbul. Additionally, energy-efficient LED lighting systems providing natural illumination, powered by the electricity grid, have been installed at 2,000 bus stops.
A solar-powered LED lighting system, independent from the electricity grid, has been installed at 1,000 bus stops across Istanbul. Additionally, energy-efficient LED lighting systems powered by the electricity grid, providing natural illumination, have been installed at 2,000 bus stops.
The installed Solar LED Lighting System can supply the energy needs of a bus stop for up to three days even on days without sunlight, ensuring well-lit stops befitting Istanbul.
The total installed capacity of Solar Energy Systems at IETT bus stops across Istanbul is 240 kW, using 1,000 flexible 110 Wp solar panels and 500 polycrystalline 260 Wp solar panels.
These Solar Energy Systems at IETT bus stops can meet the annual electricity needs of 202 households, preventing 163.9 tons of CO2 emissions per year. This is equivalent to removing 135 cars from traffic or planting 4,205 trees, contributing significantly to the environment.
