We signed a collaboration agreement with Küçükçekmece Municipality within the scope of the SECAP (Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan) program.

We collaborated with Küçükçekmece Municipality on the preparation of the SECAP – Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan. The “Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan” (SECAP), prepared jointly by İstanbul Enerji A.Ş and the Küçükçekmece Municipality Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate, was introduced at a presentation held at the Cennet Culture and Arts Center. With the protocol signed between Kemal Çebi and Yüksel Yalçın, the green transformation process within Küçükçekmece Municipality’s energy and environmental program officially began.

The program was attended by our General Manager Yüksel Yalçın, Mayor Kemal Çebi, District Director of National Education Murat Gözüdok, Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Architecture, Department of Urban and Regional Planning Dr. Erhan Kurtarır, representatives from the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, academicians, municipal department heads, NGOs, neighborhood representatives, and other district officials.

**Mayor Kemal Çebi: If we take this seriously, the target is achievable

Küçükçekmece Mayor Kemal Çebi emphasized that the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan is a priority for the municipality and that all available resources would be used to reach the goal. He stated:

"We have experienced, and continue to experience, the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. Another, even larger challenge is the climate crisis. During the pandemic, when human exploitation of nature slowed down as people stayed home, we witnessed how a city could recover. Covid-19 taught us that changes in consumption and lifestyle can reduce greenhouse gas emissions. When crises affect our lives, we begin to notice. The climate crisis is now a tangible part of our lives. Addressing an issue that affects the entire world, the environment, and human life is entirely possible. Achieving a 40% reduction by 2030 and net zero by 2050 is realistic. The more seriously we take it, the more achievable it becomes. I believe we need to pay closer attention to guidance from university scientists. Engaging citizens and raising societal awareness should start from schools."

**Yüksel Yalçın: All buildings must transition to renewable energy by 2050

Our General Manager Yüksel Yalçın highlighted that this is a true stakeholder effort:

"In Küçükçekmece, we aim for a 40% reduction by 2030 and net zero by 2050. Neighborhood representatives, NGOs, energy supply companies, universities, and schools are all stakeholders in this plan. By 2030, 50% of the buildings in Küçükçekmece will be transformed. Between 2030 and 2050, the remaining 50% will be converted, ensuring that all roofs are renewable. Rooftops of two-story villas should have solar energy systems, and in high-rise buildings, shared areas and elevator lighting should be powered by solar energy."

This plan sets a clear roadmap for Küçükçekmece’s green transformation, emphasizing collaboration, renewable energy integration, and community involvement.

We are striving to implement energy investments and programs in line with sustainable, technological, and clean energy policies, primarily with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, as well as the public and private sectors.
