From Solar Power Plants to Biomass Energy Plants, from Solar Lighting Poles to Electric Vehicle Charging Stations, we participated in ICCI 2023, the 27th International Energy and Environment Fair and Conference, showcasing all our products and services with our expert team.
At ICCI 2023, which hosted over a hundred participants from around the world and displayed the latest technologies in the energy sector, we exhibited our Solar Power Plants, Solar-Powered EV Charging Park Points (CarPort), Biomass Energy Plants, Wind Energy Plants, Solar Lighting Solutions, Floating PV Systems, Solar Panel Cleaning Products (SOLARPAK), Mobile Energy Solutions, as well as services such as Energy Efficiency Consultancy and SECAP (Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans).
During the second day of the fair, which saw intense interest in our products and services, our General Manager Dr. Yüksel YALÇIN participated as a speaker in the session titled “Istanbul’s Waste Turns into Energy,” highlighting the role of our Silivri Seymen Biomass Energy Plant with a capacity of 37 MW in Istanbul’s waste-to-energy processes:
“WASTE MANAGEMENT IN ISTANBUL”
“Waste collected from the 39 district municipalities in Istanbul is gathered at transfer centers under İSTAÇ AŞ, with a portion separated for recycling before being sent to regular landfills and waste incineration facilities. In Istanbul, where approximately 18,000 tons of household waste are collected daily, about 7,500 tons are sent to the Silivri Seymen landfill, 5,000 tons to the incineration facility, and the remaining 5,500 tons to the Şile Kömürcüoda landfill on the Anatolian side.
At the Silivri Solid Waste landfill, waste is used to produce energy at the Istanbul Energy Seymen EÜT plant with a capacity of 37 MW. Combined with our Waste-to-Energy plant, the Biometanization facility in Kemerburgaz, and our other landfill gas-to-energy plants on the Anatolian side, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality achieves a total biomass-based energy production capacity of approximately 160 MW. These facilities generate energy from waste while providing environmental benefits by eliminating methane gas.
Istanbul Energy Seymen EÜT started production in 2020 with a capacity of 17 MW and reached 37 MW in 2021. The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and all process components are monitored and controlled via automation technology and SCADA systems. By generating energy from waste heat and installing rooftop solar power plants, the hybrid-sourced facility will reach a total capacity of 90 MW once the project is completed.”
On the final day of the fair, our General Manager Dr. Yüksel YALÇIN attended the “Human Resources in the Energy Sector” session, emphasizing the need for qualified personnel in the energy sector. He noted that continuous technological development requires improving the quality of engineering education and enhancing laboratory-supported practical training in collaboration with the sector:
“COMPANIES CAN ONLY ADVANCE AS FAR AS THEY DEVELOP THE QUALIFICATIONS OF THEIR HUMAN RESOURCES”
“The number of vocational schools providing education in renewable energy should increase. The sector requires many technicians and skilled personnel, and its weaknesses in this area need to be strengthened. Companies can only progress as much as they develop the capabilities of their human resources. Moreover, universities should implement specialization-based energy engineering programs. From this perspective, we need to plan Energy Technologies Engineering and, in the short-term future, an Energy Technologies University.”
We are striving to implement energy investments and programs in line with sustainable, technological, and clean energy policies, primarily with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, as well as the public and private sectors.
