The “Energy Roadmap for Local Governments” Panel Was Held at ICCI 2025

The “Energy Roadmap for Local Governments” panel, moderated by our CEO Dr. Yüksel Yalçın, was held with wide participation as part of the ICCI International Energy Fair and Congress.

The panel featured valuable contributions regarding the energy vision of metropolitan municipalities from İzmir Energy Inc. CEO and Board Chairman Erhan Uzunoğlu, Bursa Energy Inc. CEO Erman Aydıngün, Manisa Energy Inc. CEO Atınç Aksoy, Denizli Energy Inc. Board Member Fatih Peker, Ankara ASKİ R&D Department Head Burçin Bozkurt, and Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality Climate Change and Zero Waste Department Head Nilgün Erkmen Göktaş.

During the panel, discussions focused on enabling local governments to become self-sufficient energy producers by utilizing renewable energy sources such as solar power plants (PV), wind power plants (WPP), geothermal power plants (GPP), hydroelectric plants (HPP), and biomass power plants (BPP). Strategies to increase energy efficiency in diverse areas—from transportation to lighting, pumping stations, and smart city infrastructures—were also evaluated.

In his opening speech, our CEO Dr. Yüksel Yalçın stated:

"In the face of the global climate crisis, local governments must take a more active role in energy production and management processes. Today, we are discussing not only renewable energy projects but also energy efficiency, climate action plans, and inter-institutional collaboration models within the framework of the smart city vision. Our goal is to bring together collective knowledge and experience to build sustainable, self-sufficient, and resilient cities."

The panel further addressed important topics such as the widespread adoption of renewable energy projects, development of energy-efficient infrastructure, implementation of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAP), sharing of technical knowledge and product experiences, supply chain management, and strengthening academic and industry collaborations.

Panelists shared insights on energy projects conducted in their municipalities and future objectives, providing participants with valuable experiences regarding the local government energy transition process. Enriched by participants’ questions and contributions, the session offered significant opportunities for experience sharing and developing a common vision among metropolitan municipalities.

As Istanbul Energy Inc., we extend our gratitude to all speakers, participants, and viewers who contributed to the organization of the panel, and we will continue to support energy transformation in local governments.

We are striving to implement energy investments and programs in line with sustainable, technological, and clean energy policies, primarily with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, as well as the public and private sectors.
