The SECAP presentation meeting, organized by Beylikdüzü Municipality and İstanbul Enerji A.Ş., took place at the Beylikdüzü Atatürk Culture and Arts Center. The session highlighted the action plan developed to mitigate various risks arising from climate change. The meeting was attended by Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, İstanbul Enerji A.Ş. General Manager Yüksel Yalçın, deputy mayors, department directors, and citizens.

Moving Toward Our Goal with Confident Steps

Speaking at the meeting, Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık said, “We are facing the greatest existential crisis in our history. People will continue to live on this planet after us. Some of the measures we take today may save the future. Recent pandemics, floods, storms, and snowfall caused by climate crises are increasingly turning into disasters. As part of the problem, we must also be part of the solution. The situation is urgent, and we must act swiftly. Today, we are setting a target to reduce emissions in Beylikdüzü by 40% by 2030. Hopefully, by analyzing these potential risks and sharing them with our stakeholders and the public, we will move toward our goal with confident steps.”

SECAP is Not Just the Responsibility of Administration, but of the Whole Society

Providing a detailed presentation on SECAP, İstanbul Enerji A.Ş. General Manager Yüksel Yalçın said, “Since the Industrial Revolution began in the 1760s, we have collectively polluted the world. Our predecessors did, and now we do. We need to see what kind of world awaits our children and future generations. At this moment, we must reassess what we understand from waste management, energy consumption, and urbanization. Therefore, the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan is extremely important. SECAP is not only the responsibility of an administration but of the entire society. It’s either a green future or a world depleted of resources. SECAP will turn this awareness into green action.”

We are striving to implement energy investments and programs in line with sustainable, technological, and clean energy policies, primarily with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, as well as the public and private sectors.
