İstanbul Enerji Adds a New Collaboration to Its Partnerships with Universities and R&D Institutions
On Friday, April 8, at the İstanbul Enerji A.Ş. General Directorate building, İstanbul Enerji General Manager Yüksel Yalçın and Middle East Technical University, Solar Energy Research and Application Center Director Prof. Dr. Raşit Turan signed a cooperation protocol on conducting technical and scientific studies in the field of solar energy technologies.
R&D and Technology-Based Collaboration Supports İstanbul Enerji’s Vision
İstanbul Enerji AŞ General Manager Yüksel Yalçın stated: “With the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement and the European Green Deal implemented in Turkey in 2021, we have initiated green transformation processes within renewable energy projects and in line with the mission of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. We develop projects by strengthening technological developments with İstanbul Enerji’s engineering expertise. Accordingly, we aim to start the first R&D project, to be jointly implemented by the guiding knowledge center METU-GÜNAM and İstanbul Enerji’s R&D Unit at Yıldız Technical University Technopark, as soon as possible. Today, this R&D and technology-based collaboration we are undertaking here is extremely valuable for İstanbul Enerji’s vision.”
METU-GÜNAM Director Prof. Dr. Raşit Turan added: “Worldwide, there is growing interest in solar energy as a result of increased awareness of problems caused by climate change. R&D studies and innovations significantly contribute to converting solar energy into electricity and other energy forms. The projects we will implement within the scope of our collaboration with İstanbul Enerji will focus on integrating solar energy systems into buildings, urban living spaces, parks, and transportation systems. As METU-GÜNAM and İstanbul Enerji, we are very pleased to implement these projects in line with the 2050 net-zero carbon target.”
Within the Scope of the İstanbul Enerji and METU-GÜNAM Collaboration, joint work will be carried out in the following areas:
We are striving to implement energy investments and programs in line with sustainable, technological, and clean energy policies, primarily with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, as well as the public and private sectors.
