Energy Agenda with Beysiad from İstanbul Enerji

İstanbul Enerji hosted industrialists at an energy-focused event on Wednesday, March 30, at a hotel in Beylikdüzü, organized by BEYSİAD – Beylikdüzü Sanayi ve İş İnsanları Derneği. The event started with the opening speech of BEYSİAD President Adnan Şahin and continued with presentations by Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, İstanbul Enerji General Manager Yüksel Yalçın, and Yıldız Technical University Dr. Lecturer Erhan Kurtarır. The agenda covered topics such as energy saving in buildings, efficient energy planning, climate change, the European Green Deal, reduction of fossil fuel consumption, and the establishment and management of energy systems in industrial facilities.

In his opening speech, BEYSİAD President Adnan Şahin said, “Considering energy, one of the important agenda items for the business world due to rising energy prices, and to inform our members about recent developments, we planned this program. At the same time, with the contributions of our member İstanbul Enerji, we believed such an event would benefit our members in terms of sectoral awareness and reducing energy costs. I am confident that İstanbul Enerji will provide significant contributions to Beylikdüzü industrialists in the field of renewable energy.”

Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık stated that they actively consider climate change processes and shared the municipality’s energy-saving efforts. Çalık said: “We measured solar efficiency on our own facilities. We have started work on the implementation of Solar Energy Systems in some service buildings. We are also working to integrate alternative energies into our own areas. Additionally, we are implementing practices that encourage energy efficiency.” Mayor Çalık added that SECAP – Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan studies will begin soon in Beylikdüzü, and that their Energy Efficiency and PV planning will be carried out together with İstanbul Enerji.

İstanbul Enerji General Manager Yüksel Yalçın said, “With rising energy prices, energy has become a critical factor for both operational costs and competitiveness in businesses. Therefore, our topic is not just PV systems but the Energy Management System. The sustainability of this system means making a systematic energy management approach a part of business management.” Yalçın emphasized the importance of establishing Energy Management Offices in businesses, implementing PV systems, ensuring continuity in renewable energy projects, applying carbon border adjustments, and adopting green building approaches. He added, “As a company with public responsibilities, we also provide free information and engineering support to local industrialists regarding energy investments and management. One of our main objectives is to support Istanbul’s carbon neutral targets in collaboration with local governments. We will strive to organize such events in every district of Istanbul.”

Yıldız Technical University Dr. Lecturer Erhan Kurtarır made significant contributions with his presentation on Efficient Energy Planning and Climate Change.

The meeting was attended by İDDM Exporters’ Association Board Chairman Tahsin Öztiryaki, İSİFED General President Muammer Ömeroğlu, Beylikdüzü Organized Industrial Site Board Chairman Adnan Keleşoğlu, Sander CEO Mehmet Kocasakal, members of the İBB and Beylikdüzü Councils, board chairpersons of industrial sites in Beylikdüzü, and NGO representatives. İstanbul Energy’s energy supply company İSETAŞ also participated, informing industrialists about energy supply solutions.

During the event, where many industrial organizations were hosted, a cooperation protocol titled “Energy Investments and Energy Efficiency Consultancy Service” was signed between İstanbul Enerji General Manager Yüksel Yalçın and BEYSİAD Board President Adnan Şahin.

We are striving to implement energy investments and programs in line with sustainable, technological, and clean energy policies, primarily with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, as well as the public and private sectors.
