As the energy subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipalit, İstanbul Enerji continues its SECAP – Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan studies for local governments without slowing down. Having previously prepared SECAP studies for many municipalities, İstanbul Enerji has now partnered with Çorlu Municipality.
On Monday, April 11, the contract for the preparation of the Çorlu Municipality – Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan was signed between İstanbul Enerji General Manager Yüksel Yalçın and Çorlu Mayor Ahmet Sarıkurt. İstanbul Enerji will provide consultancy services to determine the district’s carbon emission reduction pathways in line with the commitments in the Mayor’s Agreement, of which Çorlu Municipality is a party.

İstanbul Enerji General Manager Yüksel Yalçın stated: “The Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) falls within the responsibilities of local governments. Within this scope, our teams composed of expert engineers and academic advisors provide SECAP consultancy to local administrations. Through our collaboration with Çorlu Municipality, a strategic plan specific to the Çorlu district will be prepared, and clean energy applications aimed at reducing carbon emissions will be implemented. We believe that these steps toward building a sustainable life will serve as an example for other local governments. As İstanbul Enerji, we are ready to fulfill our responsibilities in line with the net zero carbon goal.”
Çorlu Mayor Ahmet Sarıkurt said: “Within the framework of the European Green Deal, Çorlu Municipality has joined by signing the Mayor’s Agreement. We commit to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the city by 40% by 2030. We have entered into a cooperation agreement with İstanbul Enerji AŞ within the framework of the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan. I hope that this collaboration with İstanbul Enerji AŞ to reduce carbon emissions will benefit our city.”
