Süleymaniye Mosque
Süleymaniye Mosque is the mosque constructed from 1551 to 1557 in Istanbul by Sinan, the Architect in the name of Suleiman the Magnificent.
Süleymaniye Mosque is one of the most significant examples of the classical Ottoman Architecture. Although more than one hundred earthquakes have happened so far in Istanbul since its construction, there has not been any crack on the walls of the mosque. The height of the mosque the dome of which is placed on four elephant feet is 53 m and its diameter is 27,5 m.
There is one minaret on four corners of the mosque yard. Two of those minarets adjacent to the mosque have three minaret balconies and they are 76 m high and the other two minarets have two minaret balconies each and they are 56 m high.
3000K color hotness armatures were used in the lighting design of the mosque visible from everywhere in Istanbul and a static lighting is targeted at. The minarets are applied local lighting upward from the minaret balconies and inside windows in the half domes supporting it and the architectural details of the structure have been revealed.
Totally 400 armatures with different power and lens properties were used in the lighting of the mosque. The light could be controlled from a single point with the infrastructure installed in the lighting system. Thanks to this, the force of the light is checked and energy saving could be provided.
