Energy Identity Certificate is defined in the Energy Efficiency Law and Regulation on Energy Performance in Buildings as “a document containing information about the energy needs and energy consumption classification of the building, insulation properties and the efficiency of heating and/or cooling systems as a minimum”. Within the scope of this regulation, it is required to be issued for all buildings with a construction area of more than 50 m², constructed on or after 1 January 2011.
Istanbul Energy Co. is authorized by Ministry of Environment and Urbanization of Republic of Turkey in order to prepare the energy identity certificate in buildings.
Energy Identity Certificate is valid for 10 years from the date of issue.
With the Energy Identity Certificate, buildings are classified between the letters A and G. The letter A indicates an efficient building while the letter G indicates an inefficient building. New buildings that will receive an energy identity certificate according to the BEP-TR method can only have A, B or C class EICs.
